Can I setup inbox rules on a shared email account to sort certain incoming messages into specific folders?

Can an inbox rule be set on a shared mailbox to move or delete specific emails automatically?

Answer:

NOTE: Users must have full access to the shared mailbox to complete this process. Questions regarding shared mailbox access can be directed to Crimson Service Desk (crimsonservicedesk@wsu.edu or 509-335-4357).

How to setup an Inbox Rule on a Shared Email Account:

  • Log in to your personal Office 365 account at email.wsu.edu.

  • Enter your full WSU Email Address and password to sign in to your account.

  • In the upper right hand corner, click on your icon/avatar.  This should open a drop down window where you can select the option to Open another Mailbox.

  • Type in the exact mailbox name or choose to search the directory to find your shared mailbox.

  • Click Open. A new window will open in your browser with the shared mailbox inbox.
  • In the New Window, click the Gear Icon  in the upper right.

  • Click on “Rules” then “Add a new rule,” then Name the rule, set the conditions and actions to take, and remember to click SAVE at the bottom right.
