How do I send email from a shared mailbox?

Do I need to add a shared email account to my "From list" to be able to send as that account in Outlook?


Send email from a shared mailbox in the Outlook web app:

  1. Login with your WSU email address and password.
  2. Click on your initials or profile picture on the upper-right corner and select Open another mailbox to search for the shared mailbox.
  3. Type the email address of the shared mailbox that you want to open and click Open. This will open the shared mailbox in a new browser window.
  4. In the new browser window, click New mail to start a new message.
  5. In the new message pane, review the From section to confirm you are sending from the shared mailbox email address.

Send email from a shared mailbox in the Outlook desktop app:

  1. Open the Outlook app on your Windows or Mac device.
  2. Start a new email message.
  3. If you do not see the From field at the top of your message, click Options and then click From within the Show Fields menu.

  4. In your new email, click the From field and select the shared mailbox from the drop-down menu. This drop-down will allow you to alternate between your WSU email address and the shared mailbox.
