Question:
Why are we moving off of FS1?
Answer:
FS1 has faithfully served our campus for more than 10 years, and has been the go to location for our campus file shares and home of our research data. FS1 has reached its end of life, and CougShare is the next version of our campus file share system.
Question:
What changes might I notice in the new CougShare?
Answer:
CougShare is a state of the art file share system that is faster and more secure than FS1. Users should find data transfer faster. In addition, members at other WSU campuses should have a better user experience when accessing cs from their campus locations.
Question:
How do I know who has access to my data in cs?
Answer:
During the migration process we will apply the same permission groups from FS1, to CS. If you would like to modify access or know who has permissions please email the help desk at spok.it.help@wsu.edu and we can work with you to update or modify any permissions.
Question:
Why is it important to go through my data before it is migrated to CS?
Answer:
Often we accumulate data that isn't essential to retain. This is a positive opportunity to ensure that data being saved is data that is essential and needed; the less data being migrated, the quicker the migration.
Question:
How much storage is provided on CS and how do I request more?
Answer:
Thanks to the investments made in FnA funds, we are able to provide each PI with a 2TB quota at no cost. If a researcher is in need of more data storage please reach out to the TSC to receive a quote.
