MX and CNAME records in the Bluecat Address Manager (BAM) require target objects. They cannot use free text fields. To support hosts in DNS zones that are not controlled by WSU, use 'External hosts' to provide a target object.

External Hosts are implemented at the DNS "View" Level, and as such are shared to all zones within the shared view. When changing external hosts, take extra precautions to ensure your changes only impact your own services.
