Mailman: How to Reset a List Administrative Password

If you have forgotten your Mailman list password or would like to reset it, please do the following:

  • You may be able to relocate it in the email that you received when you requested your list. This email message will contain the auto-generated list password.
  • Then go to https://lists.wsu.edu and select Manage a List.
  • Enter your listname and select the Manage Listbutton.
  • Enter the auto-generated List Administrator Password and click Enter.
  • Select Passwords and you will be able to reset your List Administrator password or the List Moderator password


Or, if you have totally lost your list password, send an email to crimsonservicedesk@wsu.edu giving us your:

  1. Full Name
  2. WSU Email Address
  3. phone number
  4. the name of the list in the form of name-of-list@lists.wsu.edu
  5. the new password you want assigned to your list

The Crimson Service Desk will verify your ownership of the list and then manually reset your list password. We will send you an email message when the password change is completed.
