Background:
On December 18, 2024 the Canvas Panopto 1.1 integration will be replaced by Panopto 1.3, and the existing course navigation item will be removed from course spaces.
Canvas courses using the Panopto integration will need to be updated to use the new Panopto 1.3 integration, and instructors are encouraged to add Panopto 1.3 before January 6th, 2025, the start date for Spring 2025 classes.

Impact:
On December 18th, "Panopto Video" will drop from the course navigation. "Panopto Video" will need to be added back to the course navigation.
After updating courses to use Panopto 1.3, previously created Panopto folders and content will be retained, and new Panopto features will be available.
Updating Panopto in a Course:
PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to update the "Panopto Video" link until December 18th.
To update Panopto in your Canvas course:
- Navigate to the course Settings page, then to the Navigation tab. This page has two sections - one for displayed navigation items, and one for pages hidden from student view.
- In the lower section containing hidden/disabled items, find the item labeled "Panopto Video" Select the three dot icon and then select Enable. (Alternatively, the item can be dragged into the upper section of displayed course navigation pages.)
- Select Save at the bottom of the page.
- The Panopto integration can now be seen on the left-side course navigation menu. Select "Panopto Video" to begin using the updated Panopto integration.
- If this is your first time using Panopto 1.3 in Canvas, you will be presented with a screen similar to the image below that allows you to approve the use of the integration.
Select the button labeled Authorize to proceed.
