Workday: Freeze and Unfreeze a Job Requisition

Objective

This Reference Guide provides information on how to freeze and unfreeze a job requisition in the Workday system. Freezing a Job Requisition prevents the recruitment effort from moving forward until it is unfrozen.

Steps to Freeze a Job Requisition

Execute the following steps to freeze a job requisition in the Workday system:

  1. Log in to the Workday system.
  2. Select the Recruiting application on the Workday Home page.

Note:

  • If you do not have the Recruiting application on your Home page, select the Configure Applications Image Removed icon and add Recruiting as an Optional Application to your Home page.
  • Alternatively, you can also enter the job requisition into the Search field at the top-left corner of the page.

  1. Select Job Requisition option under the View section.

Note: If you have recently created a job requisition, it may show up under the Recent section. You can select the required job requisition from this section. This will open the selected job requisition page.

  1. On the View Job Requisition page, select the desired job requisition in the Job Requisition field.
  2. Select the OK button.

  1. Select the Actions button next to the job requisition name.

  1. In the pop-up window, select the Job Change option and then select the Manage Job Requisition Freeze option. Alternatively, you can also access the Manage Job Requisition Freeze – Task through the Workday Search field and search for the required job requisition to freeze it.

  1. On the Manage Job Requisition Freeze page:
    1. Select a reason for freezing the job requisition in the Freeze/Unfreeze Reason field. Freeze reasons include Fiscal Hold and Recruitment on Hold.
    2. Select the Freeze/Unfreeze Date.
    3. Select the Frozen checkbox when you are freezing a job requisition.
  2. Select the Submit button.

  1. The system will display a notification after the request to freeze a job requisition is submitted successfully.

Result: You have completed the task to freeze a job requisition in the Workday system. HRS Employment will receive a task to unpost the job as applicable.

Steps to Unfreeze a Job Requisition

Execute the following steps to unfreeze a frozen job requisition in the Workday system:

  1. Log in to the Workday system.
  2. Select the Recruiting application on the Workday Home page.

  1. On the View Job Requisition page, select a frozen job requisition which needs to be unfrozen.
  2. Select the OK button.

  1. On the Manage Job Requisition Freeze page:
    1. Select the Freeze/Unfreeze Reason. Unfreeze reasons include Recruitment Resumed.
    2. Select the Freeze/Unfreeze Date.
    3. To unfreeze a job requisition, ensure the Frozen checkbox is unchecked.
  2. Select the Submit button.

  1. The system will display a notification after the request to unfreeze a job requisition is submitted successfully.
  2. The request will be routed to the assigned Appointing Authority for approval.
