How do I send email From from a Shared Mailboxshared mailbox?

Do I need to add a Shared Email Account shared email account to my "From list" to be able to Send As send as that account in Outlook?


How to send Send email from the a shared mailbox in the Outlook Web Appweb app:

  1. Login as yourself at  with your WSU email address and password.
  2. Click on your Avatar/Initials initials or profile picture on the top upper-right corner and choose "Open Another Mailbox" to be able to search for the Shared Mailbox and open it in its own browser window first.  Start in the new window containing the Shared Mailbox.
  3. Start a new email message.
  4. From the new email message pane, click Options and then select Show From. This will populate the email address for the shared mailbox in the From field so you know you are sending from that account.

How to send email from the shared mailbox in the Outlook Client Software:

  1. select Open another mailbox to search for the shared mailbox.
  2. Type the email address of the shared mailbox that you want to open and click Open. This will open the shared mailbox in a new browser window.
  3. In the new browser window, click New mail to start a new message.
  4. In the new message pane, review the From section to confirm you are sending from the shared mailbox email address.

Send email from a shared mailbox in the Outlook desktop app:

  1. Open the Outlook app on your Windows or Mac device.
  2. Start a new email message.
  3. If you do not see the From field at the top of your message, click Options and then click From within the Show Fields menu.

  4. In your new email, click the From field and select the shared mailbox from the drop-down menu. This drop-down will allow you to alternate between your WSU email address and the shared mailbox.
    1. Please Note: If you do not see the shared mailbox email address in your From list, you may need to add the shared mailbox
  5. Start a new email message from your account.
  6. Click Options from the new email dialog box.
  7. In the Options menu, click From under the show fields selection ribbon.
  8. At the From field in your new email, there will be a drop down on the From button. This drop down will allow you to toggle between your and the Shared Mailbox.
    (Note, you may need to add the Shared Email Account to your From list
