Turning the system on

  1. Locate the AMX touchscreen control mounted on the podium. This is the "remote control" for the podium.
  2. Touch the screen to begin your session. You will be presented with options for what to display as the projector warms up and the screen extends.
  3. With a swiping motion of your finger, you can swipe through the display options to select the device to display
  4. Once you have the device to display on screen, tap the icon for the device. This device will now show on the on the projector and the desktop monitor

Turning the system off

  1. Touch the power button in the upper left corner of the touch screen
    1. It will ask you to confirm that you wish to shut down
  2. When you confirm, the screen will retract
    1. The projector will turn off and it will run the fan on the projector until it has been cooled

Using the room PC

  1. Turn on the podium system, as described above
  2. If it is not already on, turn on the room PC (located in the lower section of the podium) by pressing the power button on front of the PC
    1. The PC will boot up and you will see it displayed on the podium monitor as well as the projector
  3. Log in to the PC with your WSU Network ID credentials.
    1. If this is your first time logging in to this computer, it will take a few moments as your local profile is created
  4. Be sure to log out when you are finished by going to the Start menu and clicking on the small cougar head icon, which will give you a log out option

How to adjust the system volume

  • Use the audio volume slider at the top of the touchscreen control
    • There is a mute/unmute button to the right of the volume slider
    • By default the audio will come on at 50%
    • If you hear no audio with the volume turned up, check the computer to make sure it's not muted

Plugging in your laptop

  1. To make your laptop's audio and video to the system, connect it to the appropriate cable that is located next to the document camera
    1. If your laptop has a VGA connection, use the VGA+Mini-plug audio connector
    2. If your laptop has an HDMI connection, use the HDMI cable, which transmits both video and audio
  2. The system will automatically sense the type of connection when you select "laptop" from the touch panel
  3. If your laptop does not display, go to the display settings on your laptop and toggle it for duplicate display (Windows-P on a Windows machine, and System Preferences > Displays on a Mac)

Using the Blu-Ray / DVD / CD player

  1. Turn on the podium system, as described above
  2. Select BluRay from the touchscreen's display options
    1. A set of BluRay controls will appear on the touchscreen, like power, open/close tray, etc.
  3. Press the Open/Close button on the touchscreen
  4. Insert your disk into the player
  5. Press the Open/Close button on the touchscreen
  6. Once the disc has had a few moments to start spinning, you can you the touchscreen controls to navigate to the track/chapter you want or just play the disc
  7. When you are finished, press the Open/Close button again to remove your disc

Note: there are no buttons available on the front of the BluRay player. You must use the touchscreen controls

Using the Document Camera

  1. Turn on the podium system, as described above
  2. From the options at the top of the screen, choose Doc Cam
  3. Pull out the document camera drawer to the left of the podium if it is not already open. You might need to move the camera arm up and into position
  4. Turn on the power button on the document camera and make adjustments as needed with zoom/focus controls
