Background | Favorite Contacts/Buddies | Ring Tones

The new Polycom VVX 411 phones come with a bunch of new features that can be changed by the end user of the device. Any changes to the phones background, buddy list, or ring tones will be retained if the phone restarts.

Changing the Background

The new Polycom phone has some backgrounds of our campus pre-loaded on the phone. More backgrounds can be added to the phone following these steps:

Use the Standard Backgrounds

  1. Press the Home button
  2. Select Settings
  3. Basic
  4. Preferences
  5. Scroll to option 5 - Background
  6. Select the desired background

Add a Custom Background

  1. Find a Work Appropriate image
    • Resolution is 340x480
    • .jpg or .png
    • The top and bottom 20 pixels are obscured by phone menues
  2. Put the image on a USB Flash Drive
  3. Plug the flash drive in to the USB port on the back of the Polycom VVX 411
  4. Wait for the "Storage Media Attached" message
  5. Press the Home button
  6. Settings
  7. Features
  8. Removable Storage Media
  9. Picture Frame
  10. Scroll to the desired image
  11. Press the button under the Mountains image
  12. Your image will set and return the the main screen

Adding Favorite Contacts/Buddies

Adding favorite contacts allows you to use one of the 12 Line buttons to quick-call or quick-transfer phone calls to another person. By enabling the Buddy Watch setting, you can see a phone number status:

  • Green - Online
  • Red - In a Call
  • Yellow - On Hold

Adding a Contact

The WSUTC Directory Shortlist is Pre-loaded on your phone

  1. Press the Home button
  2. Directories
  3. Select one of the Directories
    • Contact Directory (WSUTC Shortlist)
    • Recent Calls
  4. If your contact is not in the list
    • Select Contact Directory
    • Add
    • Enter the First Name for the Person/Department
    • Add the phone number in Contact
    • You can scroll down to Watch Buddy and enable it from here
    • Save
  5. Select the desired contact
  6. Press More
  7. Press Add Fav
  8. Press Yes
  9. To see line status, press More again
  10. Edit
  11. Scroll down to Watch Buddy
  12. Enable Watch Buddy
  13. Save
  14. Press the Home button

Change Ring Tones

There are 18 Pre-installed ringtones available on your phone. They can be set for the global ring and custom rings from individual people

  1. Press the Home button
  2. Settings
  3. Basic
  4. Ring Type
  5. Scroll through the available ringtones
  6. Select the desired ringtone
  7. Press the Home button

Individual Contact Ringtones

  1. Press the Home button
  2. Directory
  3. Contact Directory
  4. Fond the contact you want the custom ringtone
  5. Press Edit
  6. Scroll down to Ring Type
  7. Select the desired ringtone
  8. Save
  9. Press the Home button
