WSU Global Campus uses a Course Verification process to keep track of crucial course information and meet the unique legal and accreditation requirements for an online course.
Course Verification is used to ensure that details of a course are accurate before being shared with students. The Course Verification process allows Global Campus to make all financial obligations available to students on the More Information page.
Timeline
Course Verification starts two months before registration opens for students. We are obligated to provide financial obligations to students at the time of registration.
To ensure completion of the Course Verification process, prior to registration opening, Global Campus asks that instructors respond to workflow requests within 3 business days.
Note: Canvas course spaces are published for student access the Friday before the official course start date during the regular semester. For Intersession and Winter Session, course spaces are published on a Friday at least 6 weeks prior to the course start date.
Workflows
During the Course Verification process, you will be asked to confirm the course details through the following workflow requests.
- Cloning Verification
- General Maintenance
- Textbook Verification
- Media Verification
- Proctored Exam Verification
Cloning Verification
The first step of the Course Verification process is Cloning Verification. During Cloning Verification, our Global Campus Learning Innovations Team will import Canvas course content from a previous version of the course, along with all tracked materials that must be disclosed to students during registration.
Cloning Verification – What we need from you
To complete the Cloning Verification, we need you to confirm whether the correct content was imported to your upcoming course space.
General Maintenance
General Maintenance is completed in conjunction with the Textbook, Media, and Proctored Exam Verifications. Within General Maintenance, our Global Campus Learning Innovations Team will review and notify you of items that need to be addressed in the Canvas course space.
- Identify broken links and outdated content.
- Update Panopto video links, as needed.
- Update the course dates (i.e., Course Schedule, due dates, availability dates, etc.) to reflect the semester when the course will be offered.
General Maintenance – What we need from you
We need you to confirm when updates to the Canvas course space are complete.
This includes verifying that the course dates are correct. If we identify broken links in the course, we need you to provide us with updated links or let us know if the links should be removed.
You can also use the General Maintenance to request changes you may need to the Canvas course space. Please note that major changes may require prior communication and approval with your department before being implemented.
Textbook Verification
Textbook Verification is used to confirm the textbook(s) and related resources (e.g., online access codes, publisher resources, etc.) that are required for your course. Global Campus will communicate textbook adoptions to the WSU Bookie on behalf of the instructor and post textbook details on the More Information page.
Textbook Verification - What we need from you
We need you to confirm the textbook requirements for the course.
Media Verification
Media Verification is used to confirm additional course materials that may incur a fee and content that may require streaming licenses. Global Campus will coordinate with external parties (e.g., WSU Libraries, vendors, etc.) as needed and post media details on the More Information page.
Media includes, but is not limited, to the following:
- Videos hosted in Kaltura
- Non-textbook materials that students must purchase (e.g., software, movies, etc.)
- WSU Library materials
- Leganto content (eReserves)
- Kanopy videos and other licensed streaming content
Media Verification - What we need from you
We need you to confirm the media requirements for the course.
Proctored Exam Verification
Proctored Exam Verification is used to confirm exams that will require proctoring. Global Campus will set up proctoring and post proctoring details on the More Information page.
Additional information regarding proctoring can be found on our Global Campus Proctoring Services website.
Proctored Exam Verification - What we need from you
We need you to confirm the proctored exam requirements for the course.
