Overview

Microsoft 365 Copilot (paid) is a premium generative AI integrated directly into Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and other Office 365 applications. It allows WSU users to search, draft, summarize, format, analyze, and create content in context within Office 365 apps.

Unlike Copilot Chat (the free standalone AI chatbot available at copilot.microsoft.com), Microsoft 365 Copilot is only available to users who are assigned a paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license by following the "License Access at WSU" section below.

License Access at WSU

Microsoft 365 Copilot requires a paid add-on license. Individual users cannot request this license directly without departmental sponsorship.

To be eligible for a license:

  1. You must complete the required training module in Percipio: Responsible Use of AI Training
    1. Note: it can take up to 24 hours for your Percipio Learning Record to be updated.
  2. You must submit a signed WSU Microsoft 365 Copilot Access Request & Attestation form confirming your understanding of responsible use and data privacy obligations
  3. Your department administrator must purchase a license following these instruction: Procedure for requesting Microsoft 365 A La Carte Services

Once these steps are completed, the license will be assigned and activated. You’ll receive a confirmation email when Microsoft 365 Copilot (paid) features become available in your Microsoft 365 apps.

Note: This process will need to be done annually as the license is renewed.

Microsoft 365 Copilot (paid) follows Microsoft's enterprise-grade protections, including Commercial Data Protection and user content isolation.
