What types of files are blocked from being sent or received by WSU Email?
Are password protected PDF files blocked by WSU Email?
Answer:
For security purposes, WSU has restricted the type of email attachments that we will allow through our email filters. Encrypted or Password protected documents have been banned by the directive of IT Security.
We also block these file types that are typically executables.
A better workaround for these types of files if you must send them is to use Microsoft OneDrive to share documents. (See the following articles for how to upload and share files and folders on OneDrive: How to upload a file to OneDrive and How to Share Folders and Files on OneDrive.)
Also, .zip files are considered encrypted files and will not be sent through as Email Attachments on any WSU Account.
