Issue:

Pearson is updating their Canvas integration from version 1.1 to 1.3, and some courses may require revision of Pearson links.

Details:

We have upgraded Canvas’s Pearson integration tool to the latest version, Pearson Access, which will require a slightly different setup process for your classes that integrate with Pearson products beginning in Spring 2023.

Overall, the course experience, including course copy, grade sync, and assignment links, will be the same for you and your students but even more stable and secure.

Next Steps:

Important Note: If you access your Pearson Course Materials through a Partner tool like VitalSource, please disregard this message: there are no changes to Partner Integration and no action is necessary at this time.

If you plan on copying a previous semester's Canvas course, you'll need to:

  1. Hide/delete the old Pearson tool in your Canvas course menu and add Pearson Access
  2. Delete any old direct assignment links from Canvas to Pearson. New links will be created after linking to your LMS with the Pearson Access Tool.
  3. Delete the Pearson assignment grade columns from the Canvas

Gradebook

  1. Link your course using the new Pearson Access tool and enable grade sync to re-create assignment links and grade columns in Canvas.
